How long have you been tattooing and how did you start your tattooing journey?

I have been professionally engaged in tattooing for 19 years.  The first time I took a tattoo machine in hand was when I served in the Ukrainian Armed Forces in 1997.

Do you remember what was the first tattoo you did? If so, tell us what it was and for who.

My first tattoo was done in the army with a homemade tattoo machine.  It was a skull in a beret.  My first professional tattoo done in a tattoo studio was a color tiger head.  Before that, I had never held a professional tattoo machine in my hands and for the first time used colored pigments.  The most interesting thing is that the client did not know that this was my first professional tattoo 🙂

Please, tell us about your current tattoo style and how it has changed over the years.

I always wanted to get realistic tattoos, no matter in color or black and white.  At the start of my career, I had to do work in absolutely all styles.  Over time, there were more and more interesting works.  But I always paid great attention to small details.  I believe that the world consists of little things!

Does anyone or anything inspire you?

First of all, a good result inspires.  Great and interesting work by other artists inspires no less!

Are there any tattoo artists who are extremely admirable to you? If so who?

I always watched the work of Dmitry Samohin. Very lively and bright  works.  The detailing of Steve Butcher’s work is impressive.

Do you have any memorable tattoo story or a customer that has stuck with you through all the time you have been tattooing?

There were two cases when I did work for girls on the belly below the navel.  After 9 months, they came with their husbands and thanks.  According to them, they were infertile, but a few days after the session they became pregnant.  I think the vibrations and pain stimulated the reproductive organs, after which it turned out to get pregnant from her husband.  Here is such a tattoo magic 🙂

Is there any art form that fascinates you also except tattooing? Maybe do you have any other passion or something that you really enjoy doing?

I love to paint in oils.  But there is not always enough time for this.  In the future, I want to do woodwork.  I love its smell.

Do you like visiting or exhibiting at tattoo conventions? Would you recommend any of them?

It is useful for any artist to attend tattoo conventions.  For competition and for raising your professional level.  But now, in the context of a global pandemic, it is difficult to predict anything.  Good level convention in Krakow.  I would like to visit the Berlin and Venice Tattoo Convention.

Any artist you planning to get tattooed by? Who has tattooed you already?

I have a sleeve tattoo from Alexander Khartsiz.  In the future I would like to get a tattoo from Dmitry Samohin.

What are your plans and dreams? If you think about yourself in 10 years, what do you see?

Difficult question 🙂 Of course I want to continue and develop in tattoo art and further.  Now I work in my studio in Kharkov.  In the future I want to make studios in other countries.  To be able to relax and work for pleasure!
