Hi, my name is Tomasz Lech alias mister_lech. I was born in Poland and I live and work in 65 000 people city named Stalowa Wola – somewhere in the Universe 🙂 First of all I have never started any tattooing “journey”. I am full of stormy clouds in my head when some people call it like this. It’s not neither journey nor adventure, I prefer we can call it ART LIFE 🙂 – is it OK with You ? Thanks So, I have been tattooing since 2005 but my story of ART LIFE begins earlier enough in 1991 when I was a kid. Can You see it ? – Dark basement with some porno posters on the walls, small lamp, folding table, broken chairs, lot of smoke in the air, 3 adult, criminal guys tattooing each other and one me – 13 years old boy who was full of passion with some drawing skills. They heard a gossip in our neighbourhood that I am good at sketching, so they asked me to draw their patterns on the body with a ballpen (there was no stencil at that time), no sterilised needle, just a pointed guitar string fixed to the piece of wood, soda’s cup with regular drawing ink and wet t-shirt sleeve instead of paper towel. Yes, I know what You mean, it was brutal, hand-freaky-poking but it made me fascinated as much as I decided to learn this profession no matter what. So, here I am.
Hell, No. I’m sorry but my memory was vanished due to time lapse and another dimension 🙂 HAHAHA I do not want to give you any imaginary stories. I am not sure what it was but perhaps some tribal or skull I think – I just remember I was scared a lot and I did it with trembling hands, my heart was beating like crazy and beads of sweat were running down from my forehead as from waterfall. Pure Madness !!!
It’s not so easy to define my style because every piece of art I create comes out of my head and from my soul at the right and every moment of my ART LIFE while I am trying to stay in focus to catch some pictures of my imagination. I can be inspired both by someone or something however general emotions I always feel and express are mixed together to finally build opposites like sorrow and happiness, beauty and ugliness, fear and serenity, etc. Everything is additionally diversified by either bright and solid colors or monochromatic. I love decadence, metaphysics, evanescence, tragedy and fantasy but I also idolise sense of humor, comedy, situational jokes and funny realism. Only when you join the dots of these contraries You may pick out close relationship to my style I officially named PASTEL GROTESQUE 🙂
Yes, I have just mentioned about it above. I am inspired by everyday life, by people, stories, things, pictures, nature, affairs, situations but the most powerful stimulator of my imagination are my personal emotions. There is no such a great inspiration for the artist as his own mood swing. So I like to swing up and down, back and forth, in and out. It’s Me 🙂
HAHAHAH, You kidding me? I am not allowed to tell You about this. There are lot of ARTISTS I respect and my intention is not to miss none of them. I am sure they know it and are able to feel good vibes among us and even if we haven’t met yet, we will catch our feeling accordingly someday.
Do you have any memorable tattoo story or a customer that has stuck with you through all the time you have been tattooing?
There are lot of stories but the one is special and memorable for sure. It was in 2018 at the Berlin Tattoo Convention. We came to the show after long drive from Poland to Germany, sick and tired because of 2 sleepless nights with my eyes so damn aching as burned with fire. My model was not OK too, he was getting cold I think but we had a plan for 2 days tattoo session. We had started rather good but after 8 hours of tattooing we were so terribly exhausted we dreamt about our beds only. You need to know that temperature inside this hall is extremely high the same as humidity. There is no air-conditioning and regular fan is the only wind you can breath and being chilled by. Happy German August Season ! I woke up in the morning and felt ready to go but my Model was like a robot without batteries. Every move he made was painful for him and he did not let me to touch him with needles at all. This is the end I thought – we are done and the show is over to me. But No – Never Give UP – nothing happens by accident 🙂 I remember my booth mate Tibi (Regards to him) gave me some painkiller foam to rub into the skin and step by step, break after break, dose after dose and ink after ink we finished our tattoo on time that day. Everything happens for a reason ! Next day I won 2nd Place of Big Color Tattoo Competition. Do you think it is memorable enough? Hell, Yeah !
Is there any art form that fascinates you also except tattooing? Maybe do you have any other passion or something that you really enjoy doing?
Yes, it is. I love acrylic painting and digital drawing. These two things are part of my daily existence and I would like to have extra time to create more and more. I am on a good way to find some time slot to extend my 24h day for 10 hours bonus. But shush – it’s a secret 🙂 In the meantime I travel with my family, listen to the good music and watch ambitious movies. There is a lot of ways to spend our life as good as we like – If you are open to the world, the world is open to You. Isn’t it ?
Naturally ! Everyone who participate at the Tattoo Shows knows that this is the best place you can charge your battery. Positive people, good and pervasive vibrations, science, amusements, entertainment, connections, self-discovery end what I mentioned previously EMOTIONS ! There are lot of good Tattoo Conventions – Try one randomly and You will get some again.
Something is running inside my head but is far away to talk about at the moment. We’ll see.
I am going to give you good advice – free of charge 🙂 Never tell about you plans to anyone – Just, visualize, realize and show off. Always be real and do not pretend ! GOOD VIBES FOREVER
Thank You for your interview – I am really Enjoyed 🙂
