Max Sirikov

How long have you been tattooing and how did you start your tattooing journey?

I have been tattooing since 2014. When I was young I was very into heavy music, and that all rock stars had tattoos. I also dreamed of getting tattoos. As I got older this desire only intensified and I started studying in this direction. That’s how I gradually immersed myself completely in the tattoo culture.

Do you remember what was the first tattoo you did? If so, tell us what it was and for who.

Yes, of course, I remember. It was a tattoo for a friend of mine. It was a cold metal heart, and inside the heart was the name of his rock band. By the way, that tattoo still looks good and much better than my second tattoo.

Please, tell us about your current tattoo style and how it has changed over the years.

Now I’m working on realism. I work with both colors and black and gray. I started with an old-school tattoo because it is the easiest style to start working with. But I realized that lines don’t interest me and I want my work to have a “wow effect”. That’s why I love realism.

Does anyone or anything inspire you?

I’m inspired by my favorite tattoo artists. I love the work of artists who paint oil paintings.

Are there any tattoo artists who are extremely admirable to you? If so, who?

There are many such masters! I’ll just list some of my favorite names here + their profile on Instagram:

@tattoo_suvorov ( Vasiliy Suvorov)

@dmitrygorbunov_( Dmitry Gorbunov)

@dmitrysamohin (Dmitriy Samohin)

@o_kharin ( Sasha O’Kharin)

@fabriciogaldino89(Fabricio Galdino)

Do you have any memorable tattoo story or a customer that has stuck with you through all the time you have been tattooing?

The most memorable story for me is yet to come: as a rock music fan, I wrote to my rock idol from my youth on direct Instagram and suggested I do a tattoo for him. I didn’t even expect him to respond to me, but he did and willingly supported the idea. We haven’t done the tattoo yet, but I’m hoping it will happen this summer. It will be a great honor for me.

Is there any art form that fascinates you also except tattooing? Maybe do you have any other passion or something that you really enjoy doing?

Yes, I also paint with oil and acrylics. Most of the heroines of my paintings are girls. I can call myself an erotic artist.

Do you like visiting or exhibiting at tattoo conventions? Would you recommend any of them?

I don’t have a lot of experience attending tattoo conventions. As a master, I have exhibited at a total of 2 conventions. The first time in 2014 when I was just starting out and the second time in 2018 at Istanbul Tattoo Expo. There I took 3rd place in realism. Currently, there is a pandemic around the world and no conventions, but hopefully, soon we will start attending such events. Gradually the restrictions are being lifted.

Any artist you planning to get tattooed by? Who has tattooed you already?

My sleeve was made by Serge Rakov (@_rakov). My leg is tattooed by Roman Vainer (@roman_vainer_). I also have tattoos from Alexey Globus (@globusfire) and from my wife Dasha Sirikova (@sirikova_tattoo). I would like the second sleeve from Vasily Suvorov or Dmitry Gorbunov.

What are your plans and dreams? If you think about yourself in 10 years, what do you see?

In 10 years I will also be doing tattooing. Listen to heavy music and have a great sense of humor!) and in 10 years I will again give an interview to your MediaZink, which will be one of the most important and largest tattoo publications in the world.
