In 2003 I took my first tattoo and since then I have been interested in the whole art of tattooing. As a natural consequence, in 2009 I started tattooing by myself and in 2015 I opened my own studio DWA ŚLEDZIE in Gdynia.
My first tattoo – a stylized samurai head – I did 11 years ago on a friend 😊
Over the years I have worked in different styles to improve my skills and to be able to consciously identify myself. Currently I mostly work in black, graphic style and dotwork. In my tattoos I like to refer to traditional style, medieval art and minimalism.
Does anyone or anything inspire you?
I appreciate the observation of animals and nature, I do not part with a sketchbook on my travels. I am inspired by many artists of art, architecture and design.
If I had to choose only one person, it would be Henk Schiffmacher, because of his extensive knowledge of the tattoo and its history.
I have many longstanding clients and related stories. Everyone brings a story, regardless of the size of the tattoo. This is a great aspect of my work – direct contact with people.
I always say tattooing is my passion, not just work. I’m trying to make all my activities enrich this passion.
I try to participate regularly in various events in Poland and abroad. I’ve exhibited among other things at the: Berlin Tattoo Convention, Warsaw Tattoo Convention, Tattoofest Convention, Tattoo Splash and numerous editions of the Tattoo Konwent – in Gdansk I had the pleasure to join the jury several times. I consider conventions to be an important part of the tattoo scene.
I’ve been missing time for years for tattooing myself, but I hope to make up for a few “stamps” on the body. I still like my old tattoos from Andrzej Lipa, Zappa and Krzysiek Szymeczko.
10 years is a very long time, I don’t like to run so far into the future. I’m currently working on my first tattoo publication. I wish I had the health and strength to act, that’s enough for me to be happy.
