Blue Astrid is an alternative model, tattoo artist, metalhead and cosplayer. She is in love with the dark side of art. On daily basic she lives in Wrocław, Poland. For many years she organise non-profit sessions and artistic projects from scratch. As she wrote on her Ko-fi profile: “Many of them cost me a lot”. Undoubtedly, transport costs are one of the big costs during such sessions. I mention this because I made an appointment with her for a session in a city other than she lives. Our session took place in the Polish capital – Warsaw, which for a moment turned into scenes from “Alice in Wonderland”. For those who do not know what “Alice in Wonderland” is, let me give you a very brief description.
This is an 1865 novel written by English author Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll. It tells of a young girl named Alice falling through a rabbit hole into a subterranean fantasy world populated by peculiar, anthropomorphic creatures.
This story is full of many nonsense specific to the fantasy genre. That is why details were so important during my session with Blue Astrid to better refer to the topic like from Wonderland. One of them was the outfit. I didn’t want it to be classic outfit, as befits a typical Alice, but to be very modern version and suited to the tattooed model.
Invaluable help in the creation of this fabulous session was provided by totally amazing designer – Askasu. She is an alternative fashion designer based in Warsaw who makes clothes designed and hand-made by her. “I love it when an intricate detail meets a sharp form. Black is the key ingredient” – Askasu said. And although the creation that Askasu created for Blue Astrid is not black, you will recognize from a distance that it is her work. Her unique style fits perfectly into the topic of the session that I have been planning to do for a long time.
I, as a tattoo photographer invented the topic, found a place and prepared all things which were badly needed to create wonderland. Like during creation Powerpuff Girls, I added Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice. Then I photographed it and that’s it! Now I can I invite you to my modern version of the magical world of Blue Astrid in Wonderland!
