Alice Littleone; A Tattoo Artist With Modesty and A Sense of Humor:
Alice Littleone is quite the artist, torn between detailed colorful tattoos and simple black work pieces. However, she is equally skilled at both. Her tattoos all seem to resonate very purely with their wearer, depicting anything from the girly and dainty, to the nerdy and adventurous and the quirky and funny. All of her tattoos are masterfully done, only matched by her humble modesty and her humor, not fully admitting to her awesome talent.
1. Where are you from? What age are you? and how long have you been tattooing for?
Hi! I’m Alice (Littleone – that’s why the artist name is LTL(little)13), I’m from Bucharest, Romania, I’m 29 and I’ve been tattooing for about… I think 6 years or so.
2. The name of your current studio and where is it located?
I’m currently working at Tiba Tattoo, Berlin.
3. How would you describe your style of tattooing/the style of your tattoos?
Good question. I’m not good at this whole self description/praising myself. So I’ll just say about my work: either the color wheel spilled down your skin or just black.
See, I can’t really make up my mind between black and color. I love contrasts, I love the freedom that colors give you, the endless possibilities and combinations, but I also love black. Just black. It has something. It’s simple, clean, bold. So I guess I’m in the middle of the crossroad between graphic, dotwork, geometry, watercolor… and some more color.
4. What is it you love about that style?
Since I can’t pin down one particular thing I’ll just say that I love the fact that whatever style you choose, in the end it’s all about imagination.
5. What is your favorite thing about being a tattoo artist?
You know that moment when you get up in the morning and start thinking about your work and what you have to do today and so on… and you get some crazy twisted idea that for most people would be just some idea that never sees daylight ….well you actually get to make it happen. Getting to see things from whatever perspective you want to see them, you get to stand (and think) outside the box you get to use your imagination. You need to, and that’s what keeps you alive.
6. What got you into tattooing?
Call it life or a weird series of coincidences, the right person at the right time, the stubborness of not giving up, a passion for drawing, some deep fear of routine and boredom, the unconditional support of my (extended)family…. all of these got me started and kept/keep me going. If I’d have to resume it I’d say I always wanted to do something different.
7. What is your favorite tattoo you have ever done or seen?
Done… I can’t make up my mind…probably an Italian espresso maker done on my coffee addicted colleague…
seen: a sleeve I’ve seen years ago done @ Sake Tattoo – Athens, Greece. Part of it is just solid hard orange. Flawless. Of course you see a lot of tattoos with a lot of details and a lot of work put in, and reinventing the wheel… but for some reason that simple, solid orange got stuck in my head.
8. Do you have a dream tattoo, that you want to do on someone in the future?
Flamingos and mice/rats/squirrels…( any kind of rodents actually ) would be on top of my tattoo bucket list.
9. Do you have any future plans, you would like your fans and the readers at MediaZink, to know about?
Fans?! I think my grandmother has more fans than me :))) plans? Do the same thing I do every day: try to take over the world :)))
Final Comments and Gallery:
There is nothing little about the skill of Alice Littleone, you could look at her tattoos and get lost in them for hours. They are enchanting in their detail and in many cases their warmth. No one would be disappointed if they went to this artist to get a tattoo, but they might be surprised with just how awesome their design will end up being. We sure look forward to seeing Alice around and doing more awesome tattoos in the future, hopefully with more fans.
