Tattoos and Jobs; New Study Shows a Cultural Change Regarding Tattoos:

Tattoos and jobs, the old adage is that you should be very careful with tattoos, when it comes to your job prospects. For years people have warned anyone wanting a tattoo, or lectured anyone with tattoos, about how they have ruined their job prospects. It became part of the stigma surrounding tattoos, that they can prevent you from getting certain jobs. However, according to a new study conducted in Miami and published in the scientific journal ‘Human Relations’, tattoos no longer hurt your job prospects.

The study which was, as mentioned above, conducted in Miami, had over 2000 participants from all over the US. They were from all walks of life as well and from every color, and creed. They found that opposite to traditional and perhaps conservative, values and norms, tattoos won’t hurt your job prospects at all. In fact they speculate that in some cases, having tattoos actually might help them.

It is awesome to think, that the labor market and the culture surrounding it, is changing for the better. However, we do need to keep in mind, those of us not in the US. That this study is mainly representative of the US labor market. It can be very different in other countries. However, we can hope that the US cultural change, might inspire other countries to be more open minded as well.

Final Comment:

Tattoos and jobs, no longer will these be adverse parts of society, not that they really were anymore anyways. But it is non the less awesome to hear, that even scientists have spotted a positive change, towards a more open minded labor market. It will be exciting to see what the future holds.
