Guindero; From Manga to Tattoo:
Guindero never had much experience with tattoos at all, before he got into it himself. His first inspiration came from a manga he read when he was young. Now a days, he himself is a tattoo artist, working with what he loves every day of his live and loving it to the fullest. His own tattoo style is truly fascinating and colorful. In some of his tattoos you can clearly see a certain manga influence. But all of them are colorful and radiant. The lines are strong, the colors are sharp and vivid, and the designs flow nicely with the body.
1. Where are you from? What age are you? and how long have you been tattooing for?
Hi! first of all, thanks for interviewing me! I’m from Sitges, a little coast town near Barcelona, Spain, i’m 37 years and i been tattooing full time since 2007 so 11 years now!
2. The name of your current studio and where is it located?
I’m currently working at my shop the GYPSY GARDEN TATTOO in Barcelona.
3. How would you describe your style of tattooing/the style of your tattoos?
it`s a hard question for me, i been working before in street shops for about 9 years, so i had to learn all kind of styles, but i feel more comfortable with everything i draw myself, without thinking on the style. butt maybe i’m between the Neo traditional and the Newschool?? ajajajaj as i sayd before, i’m still working on that…
4. What is it you love about that style?
which? jajajaja, the real answer is that i love tattoo, all day every day, so yes, i prefer my own stuff, but i enjoy almost everything!
5. What is your favourite thing about being a tattoo artist?
I love everything, but mostly the possibility of living a life doing a thing that i love, making friends and enemies around the globe.
6. What got you into tattooing?
No one on my family and around has tattoos, and they didn’t’ like it. But my first memory is a Manga called “crying freeman” about an Assassin from the “108 Dragons” chinese mafia, with a huge dragon tattoo around his body, and i remember think, “someday i had my whole body tattooed, with an enormous dragon..” At the end, i’m covered in more small tattoos, hurts less jajajajaja, long story short, since i remember i always wanted to be a tattooer, but life has his owns paths and i can’t start since 26 years! But hey!!! never it’s to old for do what you love!
7. What inspires your tattoos(and art) the most?
I buy a lot of tattoo books to learn everything i can, and look around the art of other tattooers, but instagram life it’s hard to ignore… jjajajaja , to be honest anything can inspire me during the day. Since a post of one of the tattooers i follow, to a sketch/tattoo from one of my buddies at the shop, or anything else, half of my day i’m in the clouds thinking about anything.
8. What is your favourite tattoo you have ever done or seen?
I don’t have any favourite specific tattoo or tattoo artists, there is a lot of talented tattooers of any kind of style around the world. And as i say before, i love almost every style so i can answer that question. Every day i see on instagram another awesome young tattooer that i never heard before, and i feel anxiety ajajjaja
9. Do you have a dream tattoo, that you want to do on someone in the future?
No, i feel grateful tattooing every day.
10. Do you have any future plans, you would like your fans and the readers at Mediazink, to know about?
Nothing new on the horizon, still working hard to improving my work, publishing books, painting, travelling as much i can and still learning! If you are interested in my work or tattoo travel plans, all the info are now currently on my IG , thanks again to the guys of Mediazink for interviewing me, see ya!
