Australian Tattoo Artists; To Pass Tests:

Australian tattoo artists in the state of New South Wales, have since last year had to go through something formerly unheard of.
Because of a wish, from local and national government to clean up the tattoo industry. Namely because of its assumed relations to biker gangs, and how this has resulted in firebombings and shootings at tattoo studios. There has been a political wish to clean up the tattoo industry.

This has resulted in something, which has not been seen anywhere before. Artists in New South Wales, now have to pass a “fit and proper persons” test. The test is essentially meant to prove that a tattoo artist is a good person with no criminal or deviant intent.
A kind of testing, which has not been seen in the industry before.

Since it has not been seen before, it is difficult to say, whether the plan will work to clean up the industry. But it does seem kind of stigmatizing towards the tattoo artists, who are being tested. Basically accusing the entire industry in the state, of being criminal until proven otherwise.

Final Comments:

We here at MediaZink are sure excited to see how this may pan out, in 2018. But feel free to tell us, what you guys think about such methods? is it a step too far or do you think there should be similar tests where you live?
